Neo-Tango brings Argentine tango into the contemporary musical landscape, blending its rhythms, melodies and distinctive sounds with influences from electronic music, hip-hop, trip-hop, rock, jazz and beyond. Its roots can be traced to earlier experiments by musicians who challenged tango's conventions, but it emerged as a recognizable movement around the turn of the 21st century, when artists such as Gotan Project and Bajofondo brought electronic production and new musical influences into the tango world. The result is not one single sound, but a wide-ranging dialogue between tango tradition and contemporary music.
